How do you know the person offering you an apartment owns it? Sean Almeida lists what to ask for before you pay anything. How can I check that the person offering me an apartment really owns it?

What does the technical passport show?
It contains the floor plan, the area of each room and the terrace and balcony sizes. Sean advises comparing it with what you saw, to make sure the documents match the apartment.

How do I know the apartment is registered?
A notary can order an extract from the national online property register. Sean notes that not every legally owned property is registered, so a missing entry does not mean the property is not legally owned, but ideally it should be registered.
